IVA Elementary 1st Day Letter

Dear IUSD Virtual Academy Families,

Welcome to this very unique 2020-21 school year! I wanted to thank you for your continued support of Irvine Unified through this unprecedented time. You are truly appreciated! Your child will go down in history as being part of the inaugural class of IUSD Virtual Academy. I want to provide you with some information and resources that support a smooth start for our students and you.

Your child will start their first day of IVA on August 20th. Their classroom is in Canvas, and the website is https://iusd.instructure.com and they will log in with their IUSD credentials (without @iusd.org) . You will receive communication directly from your child’s teacher on Wednesday, August 19th, after 1 pm with specific access information and how to get started with Canvas.

One of the first activities you will complete in Canvas with your child is the Orientation module that will cover distance learning, Canvas basics, and the IVA Master Agreement. Below are two instructional videos to complete the task.

How can my child find their username and password?

Please follow the Finding Your Child’s Username and Password tutorial in order to login. If your child has changed their password to be something other than their Permanent ID, please review the Changing Student Password tutorial.

Each day, attendance will be taken, and there will be daily, live instruction supporting teacher/student engagement.

We are all very excited to get started with our year. Even though the Virtual Academy keeps students “distant” from each other, we will work in partnership to make connections and positive relationships as we learn together in a comfortable, exciting, and rigorous distance learning environment.
