Dear IVA Middle and High School Families:

We hope this message finds you and your family health, safe and enjoying the weekend. We wanted to provide our weekly update newsletter: MS and HS IVA Weekly Update

We have a few other important items:

  1. Calendar Updates:
    1. September 21st and 22nd: No School, Teacher Professional Development Days
    2. September 23rd: School Day following the Monday bell schedule
    3. September 24th: Odd Periods all LIVE
    4. September 25th: Even Periods all LIVE (Middle School will have advisement)
  1. Back to School Night: Our virtual Back-to-School Night for Middle and High School will be on September 30th starting at 6:00pm. The Back to School Night will be linked through Canvas. If you have not done so already, please follow these instructions on setting up a Parent Observer Canvas account with your child(ren). Canvas will be the primary point of contact for your child to access information about each of their classes. By setting up a Parent Observer account, you will be able to see what teachers post if you want to stay informed about their classes. We will send additional information about the Back to School Night as we get closer.
  2. Attendance: Attendance looks different this year. In accordance with Senate Bill 98, we will be taking attendance daily during each class period including advisement. On Mondays, attendance is taken in advisement ONLY. If your student is not able to attend class, please report the absence to our attendance line (949) 936-7400 and follow the prompts to leave a message. Additionally, each evening our automated system will send you a message regarding an absence and you can respond through the message system with the reason. This year teachers are able to change an absence to "engaged by other measures" when a student completes the missed work for a class meeting. A student should communicate with the teacher through office hours regarding this and a teacher will submit the change to the office. Please provide us a few days to complete this after a student has contacted the teacher and completed the work.

Thank you for your continued patience, understanding, and grace.
